Austin Faux Painting and Designs: Custom faux finishes

Faux Real Designs (Austin Faux Painting and Designs) is a faux painting company that has been serving the Austin and the Greater Austin area for over 20 years, by providing hand-painted faux finishes for residential and commercial interiors and exteriors.

It is owned by Angela Camp, one of Austin’s finest faux artist. She believes that anything can be achieved through the medium of faux painting and that it can turn your dreams into reality by transforming the inside of your home into a work of art.

Whether  you want your walls faux finished, glazed or aged, or an elaborate stencil design on a ceiling or a dome or a mural on an accent wall, whether you want those dull white columns looking like they’ve been carved out of some expensive marble  imported from Italy, whatever finish you can think of for your walls, cabinets or furniture, faux painting can make it happen. With faux, we can fulfill all your faux finishing needs for the interior and exterior of your home and go wherever your imagination takes you.

Faux finished cabinets and faux wood, faux painted stone and faux brick, Venetian plaster, eclectic plaster finishes and faux finish texture applications, murals, we do it all, and because of our experience in interior design, we can either work with the existing color scheme of your home or  start with a brand new palette.

Why Faux Real Designs and why faux?

Well…quite simply, faux finishing enhances the architectural features of your home by adding warmth, contrast and texture to your walls.

With faux painting, new painted surfaces can be made to look aged. Faux painting  can also make any surface look like  leather, stone, wood,  metal, or brick.  In essence, it can create the illusion of the real for a fraction of the real cost. Another faux finish medium that can bring beauty to your walls is Venetian plaster, which is basically plaster mixed with marble dust. It conveys the appearance of polished marble by mimicking its  smooth, multi-dimensional look.  Depth is achieved by the amount of layers you apply.  Venetian plaster brings elegance and refinement to a room like no other basic paint job could ever do.

Occasionaly, we may need to set up scaffolding to faux or hand-paint a stencil design on a vaulted ceiling or a dome . It must be noted that, because walls and ceilings around stairs and staircases are notoriously hard to reach, a little bit more ingenuity is required when setting up scaffold or customizing a work platform.
It may look impressive and a little scary to our clients because it’s high, but we always let them know that, dealing with height is part of a faux finish artist’s life.
For our faux painted exteriors we usually apply a simple faux glazing medium, like tobacco stain for instance, on a pre-painted surface.
This type of faux finish gives the exterior of a house the look and color of a Tuscan plaster finish. Usually tinted elastomeric paint on stucco is the base we work on, but the surface can be smooth as well.

“Faux finishing is more than just a trade, it is our passion.                                   Adding elegance and beauty to your home is our mission.”

Faux painting is very popular, and that’s especially true in today’s high-end home market like the one we have in Austin.

To distance ourselves from our competitors, Faux Real Designs is committed to  customer satisfaction and excellence in workmanship. Our approach to faux finishing and the relationship we’ve developed with our clients over the years is without equal.

For the past 30 years, in America, faux finishing has revolutionized the way people see the inside of their home. Cabinets became more than just cabinets, furniture more than just furniture, they became works of art, and the same could be said about walls, doors, niches, domes and ceilings. Today, thanks to faux painting , every surface inside of a home is like a blank canvass ready for great art.

Although we’re working on big projects in high end homes and large estates in the Austin and the Greater Austin area, we approach small budgeted projects and work on small houses with the same workmanship and dedication to perfection. Depending on the size of the project we also serve San Antonio and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
